Course overview
In rugby, a scrum is when players stick their heads down, lock shoulders with the other side, and try to gain possession of the ball by pushing each other. It’s sweaty, and muddy, and an easy way to dislocate your collarbone.
Thankfully, in project management, a Scrum is a lot less violent. It’s a methodology that involves short, concentrated sprints to complete aspects of the project led by a ‘Scrum Master’. This course will get you up to speed on the Scrum methodology, so you don’t accidentally rugby tackle your staff the next time they propose it.
Learning objectives:
- Define the Scrum methodology, including the four Scrum ceremonies, so you can recognise what it looks like practically
- Explain the best use of the Scrum methodology, so you can judge if it would work best for your project
- Use the Scrum methodology to ensure short, concentrated development of project components within rigid time frames
Why you should take this course
When it comes to managing projects, there are a few different approaches you can take, each with its unique strengths. This course looks at how the Scrum method utilises sprints to achieve fixed development goals and the 4 ceremonies key to its operation. If you’re involved in project management, this course will help you assess the merits of the Scrum methodology, so you can decide if it’s suitable for you.
